Adjutant General Corps Regimental Association Achievement Medal

HISTORY: At the request of many Chapter Presidents, the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association created an award to recognize contributions to the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association and the Adjutant General’s Corps or other Human Resources professional.

PURPOSE: To recognize the achievements of individuals who promote the objectives and purposes of the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association and the Adjutant General’s Corps or Human Resources professional as set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws of the Association. The AGCRA Achievement Medal is awarded for achievement of a lesser degree than required for award of the Horatio Gates Medal.

PERSONS ELIGIBLE: Any person who is a member in good standing of the Association, and who is a member of the Adjutant General’s Corps, or affiliated with the Adjutant General’s Corps or other Human Resources professional, when the recommendation is submitted. Personnel may not receive this award more than twice.

CRITERIA: As established by the Constitution and By-Laws and in keeping with the Association’s goals that members be recognized for their accomplishments.

COST: $20.00, to be borne by the recommending authority.

RECOMMENDING PROCEDURES: Any person having firsthand knowledge of an individual’s achievement which meets the above criteria can recommend that individual for this award. All recommendations, in memorandum format, for the AGCRA Achievement Medal will be forwarded to the Vice-President for Awards to verify membership status and preparation of the certificate and medal. The local Chapter President will review and approve/disapprove all recommendations.

APPROVAL PROCESS: If approved by the local Chapter President, the award will be forwarded to the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association, ATTN: VP for Awards, PO Box 10026, Fort Jackson, SC 29207-0026 or by email, as early as possible, but not later than 30 days prior to the presentation date. Membership will be verified and the certificate will be prepared and forwarded along with the medal for presentation. The local Chapter President will sign the certificate. If there is no local Chapter, the AGCRA President will approve or disapprove the recommendation after membership verification. The Association President will sign the certificate and the certificate and medal will be forwarded for presentation. Once the award has been aproved, payment may be made by check (payable to the AG Corps Regimental Association) or credit card. Credit card transaction can only be processed by the VP for Awards. If mailing has to be expedited, recommending authority will cover the costs.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF AWARDS: Award recipients will be published in “1775″.

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS: Presentation of medals and certificates will be made with an appropriate air of formality and at fitting ceremonies such as retirement ceremonies, anniversary celebrations of the Adjutant General’s Corps, or Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association Chapter activations or anniversaries.

RECORDING OF AWARDS: All awards will be recorded by entering the recipient’s name, rank and unit in a database maintained by the Awards Custodian. This database will be reviewed as part of the approval process.

REVOCATION OF AWARDS: In the unlikely event that information becomes available that a fraudulent award has been made, or dishonorable conduct is substantiated, the Chapter President or the AGCRA Executive Council can revoke this award. Chapter Presidents must notify the AGCRA, VP for Awards if this occurs.
